Do You Save That Much Parking on the Streets?

Metered parking rates can really add up if you intend to stay put in one place. In some smaller towns or cities, a quarter will allow you to park in one spot for up to two hours. Low prices like that are rare when parking in NYC. Under this circumstance, many people do not save much money when compared to easily dropping off a vehicle at one of our garages or parking lots.

Reading the language posted on the physical ticket machine will tell you how much it will cost to park per 15, 20, or 30-minute intervals. This is the clearest way to know how much parking will end up costing. Although things change as a result of special streets and regulations, most streets have a standard fee:

  1. Outer boroughs (Staten Island, Queens, Bronx, Brooklyn): $1 to park for an hour
  2. Uptown Manhattan: $1 for every hour
  3. Manhattan (between 96th and 110th St.): $1.50 per hour
  4. Below 96th Street: $3.50 an hour

When using metered parking, you receive a printed ticket with your purchase and expiration time. Be mindful of when your time is over because meter officers look to ticket whenever they can. Also, make sure to place the ticket correctly in your car. It is not uncommon for people to place the ticket upside down, in a hard to view spot, or in a place that will make the ticket fall. Although you have a ticket in the car, there is still a chance you can get a parking violation.

Our parking garages in NYC can help you keep your car safe and save you money, while also making parking incredibly easy. Not worrying about meters will help you have a great time in NYC.
